About Us

Customization, or better yet, personalization

Your home should be a reflection of your lifestyle. It should be built around making your family life and how it functions easier. We offer homes with all types of features; 1st floor masters, active adult/aging in place, two story house plans, handicap accessible, man cave’s, in-law suites, homework stations, and customized interior trim features. In addition, the exterior of your home should be warm and inviting. Craftsman style exteriors, stone porches, wood brackets & posts, and extensive outdoor living are all designed with you. We have never built the same house twice. They may be similar, but each one has something unique that was designed just for that family.

Our building process really allows you to be involved. Our job is to just show you the way.

Collaboration & Communication

Our job is to ask questions and listen to what you are looking for in a new home. We will help you select a house plan that meets your needs and then together we will design the home around your lifestyle and how your family functions. This a collaborative effort and you are involved during the whole process. We’ll design the house together, we’ll select the amenities together and then build the house together. We don’t actually expect you to pick up a hammer and start building per se, but we’ll schedule periodic meetings on the job-site to make sure the vision we’ve designed on paper is what we get in the field. Building is not a perfect process, so communication is extremely important throughout the design, selections and production process. You’ll have access to phone numbers & email addresses of both the builders to ensure communication is in place. We’d much rather hear about concerns, new ideas, or design changes during the building process rather than after.

What we know.

When we personalize, collaborate, communicate and work through the homebuilding process together, the likelihood that your new home meets or exceeds your expectations is extremely high.
Kind of makes sense, doesn’t it?

Just so you don’t think we’re blowing smoke, see below.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was working with Virginia Jack Builders on our “forever dream home.” Kevin is a master of design, and can create a home around whatever your needs may be, and within your budget. Jeff is exceptional at execution, design ideas, state-of-the-art and cutting edge product knowledge, and working within a specific timeline. Both are an amazing team that really listens to what your vision is for your home, and is passionate and excited about making it happen. Their home building process is streamlined and organized from start to finish, so there are no surprises. They made the experience enjoyable from the planning stages, through the construction phase, and move in. We could not be happier with our home because, through a collaborative effort, we have a home that is a reflection of us as a couple and accommodates our lifestyle. Having owned other homes, I can undoubtedly say Kevin and Jeff are superior custom home builders in a league of their own!

Awesome, is the only word to describe Virginia Jack Builders. We met the builders (Kevin Russell and Jeff Smith) in 2014 after purchasing land in Brickshire subdivision, New Kent county. We told them it would take about two years for us to sell our current home. This is our second custom home, our fourth home in all and this has been the best experience in building a home we have ever had. We selected a plan and they made recommendations and changes that met our needs as a family and life after retirement. They are the most proficient builders that we have ever worked with. Both of them have great attitudes and provide you with an honesty assessment of your house plan and what is required to meet your needs based on your budget. Our home was completed in August 2016 and we are enjoying every minute of our new home. Our friends (Jeff and Kevin) did an outstanding job!

Kevin and Jeff built us the home of our dreams! Their attention to detail (without adding ridiculous upgrades) is where they stand out! This is our 3rd home we’ve built and Kevin and Jeff are the real deal. They make sure their product is top notch! Thank you so much for making our dream house a reality!

When my wife and I decided to build we were somewhat reluctant because of all the building horror stories you hear. After meeting Kevin and Jeff they eased our fears and we couldn’t have been more pleased with them or the wonderful results of our custom home! They not only were able to design around our budget and style but were able to get us into our home ahead of schedule before my wife gave birth to our baby girl. We highly recommend them to anyone considering building a new home!!

As first time builders, my wife and I selected Virginia Jack as our builder for these reasons:

1. As compared to production builders, we would have more ability to make the house how we wanted it.
2. As compared to custom builders, the price point was something we could afford.
3. Kevin and Jeff repeatedly demonstrated they had our best interests in mind and were about maintaining a reputation rather than cutting corners to deliver profits.

Since we made the selection, we’ve never looked back. The quality of their work, the openness of the communications, and the willingness to make things right have re-enforced the soundness of our original decision. We saw their honesty demonstrated when they had extra stone delivered which they let us use at no cost for our outdoor fireplace. We experienced their willingness to co-create on the fly when our initial vision for a back patio had to be taken back to the drawing board. We saw their commitment to getting it right when dining room plans didn’t fit our furniture and we worked together to remove walls, repair floors, and move lighting so that we both were happy with the end product. Beyond the tangible stories I have to share is the relationship we built where I trusted them to be in my best interest, candid, and open to feedback. In talking with my neighbors who built at the same time, not only did they know my builders from being so often at the site, but they shared stories of how they wish they had selected them so as to have avoided the stories they could tell about their own. Building a new house is a challenging, scary, and rewarding experience. Building with someone you can trust made all the difference for us.
